Overview

Inviting STEM students, researchers, and scientific and technical experts to provide innovative ideas – aims to identify the latest research findings and technical gaps in the critical areas of Space Telecommunications, Earth Observation, Space Exploration, Navigation, Access to Space, and Sustainability.

The Call for Abstracts is a precursor to a subsequent submission of a manuscript and a presentation, which will be presented by the authors at the Planet X Challenge taking place at Dubai Airshow from 13-17 November 2023.

This is your unique opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and engage in professional development. This is an innovation challenge with minimal constraints so that proposing teams could genuinely create and develop out-of-the-box ideas.


Abstracts shall fit into one of the following areas

  • Satellite Communication: Radio wave studies, Antenna Desing & Processing, Quantum & Optical Communication, Signal Processing & Control.
  • Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT): Miniaturized GNSS Systems, Space Cybersecurity, GNSS Big Data Sciences.
  • Earth Observation: Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), AI & Advanced Data Fusion, Earth, Environmental and Marine Sciences.
  • Access to Space and Sustainability: Material, Rocketry Fuel Sciences, Propulsion, In-space Robotics, Guidance, Navigation and Control.
  • Space Exploration: Planetary Science, Asteroids surface investigations, Lunar Surface Exploration, Human Space Flight.

Your Award!

  • Selected outstanding abstracts will have the opportunity to receive a research grant.
  • Selected outstanding abstracts will be supported to reach a high-maturity level to achieve innovation and high-impact capabilities and technologies for infusion in a broad array of future Agency missions and projects.

Eligibility

  • Participation is open for UAE nationals and residents who are University STEM Students(Undergrad – Senior Year & Postgrads) and researchers and experts in the field of space science and technology.
  • Abstracts should present original scientific studies and research. Plagiarism is prohibited.There may be restrictions on abstracts submitted at previous conferences or events.
  • There may be restrictions on abstracts submitted at previous conferences or events.
  • Your abstract should consist of a title, authors list and the abstract text that is limited to 400 words.
  • Abstracts can be submitted by more than one co-author.

Review Process

  • All submitted abstracts will go through a peer-review process carried out by a special committee.
  • Authors of the accepted abstracts will be notified to submit a manuscript and an oral presentation at Planet X Challenge during Dubai Airshow 2023.
  • Instructions on subsequent steps, submission, and presentation dates will be communicated to the authors of accepted abstracts.

Timeline

  • Registration open: 10th September 2023.
  • Registration deadline: 29th September 2023.
  • Abstracts submission deadline: 29th September 2023.
  • Notification of acceptance: 5th October 2023.
  • Paper and Final presentation submission: 6th November 2023.
  • Workshop dates: 13-17th November.
