His Excellency Masood Mohamed Sharif Mahmood is the CEO of Etisalat UAE, the communications pillar of e& Group (formerly known as Etisalat Group). HE Mahmood has over 21 years of extensive experience and a proven track record in building and transforming businesses in the communications and technology sectors.

HE Mahmood previously served as CEO of Yahsat, the leading global satellite operator wholly owned by Mubadala Investment Company, for nearly ten years. Since his appointment in 2012, Mahmood managed Yahsat’s commercial and governmental operations, successfully expanding the company’s business internationally and overseeing its growth in 50 markets around the world.

As CEO of Yahsat, Mahmood played a pivotal role in the merger and integration of the commercial satellite communications sector in the UAE through Yahsat’s acquisition of the mobile satellite operator Thuraya. This significant investment supported Yahsat's IPO in 2021 and benefited shareholders.

Before joining Yahsat, Mahmood was the Executive Vice President of the ICT department at Mubadala, where he directed the company’s strategy and managed the assets of its strategic portfolio, including Yahsat and Injazat. With a decade of experience in investment management and business development, Mahmood has held key executive positions in various governmental and semi-governmental organizations, such as Dubai Holding and the Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Mahmood currently serves on the boards of Yahsat, the UAE Space Agency, the digital bank Wio, and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation. He was previously a board member of the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du).

Mahmood holds a master’s degree in business administration, specializing in finance, from McGill University in Canada, and a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Boston University in the US.
