Hamad Al Marar is the Managing Director & CEO of EDGE Group. He is responsible for the worldwide strategic, commercial, and operational management of EDGE, one of the world’s leading advanced technology and defence groups, covering over 25 companies in five strategic business clusters: Platforms & Systems, Missiles & Weapons, Space & Cyber Technologies, Trading & Mission Support, and Homeland Security.
Al Marar was formerly President of the Missiles & Weapons cluster at EDGE, where he provided oversight and strategic direction on the development and business functions of four companies within the cluster - Al TARIQ, CARACAL, HALCON, and LAHAB.
Prior to this, Al Marar was Chief Consulting Officer at Tawazun Economic Council (TEC), overseeing strategic client partnerships and providing advisory support based on operational research. He drove significant organisational change and established critical programme management initiatives across TEC through data analysis.
Previously, Al Marar was General Manager of Tawazun Dynamics (now AL TARIQ), a standoff weapons joint venture at its concept phase, where he spearheaded business growth and was instrumental in securing a noteworthy UAE Air Force contract.
With the establishment of Tawazun, he was entrusted with managing complex stakeholder partnerships and defence contractors, initially across Europe and then globally. Al Marar was deeply involved in key Tawazun programmes that led to the inception of new companies, acquisitions, transferring of offset obligations to new policies and broader restructuring. He was also a member of several boards and contributed to strategic foreign alliances.
Al Marar has been a speaker on several leadership forums, with a focus on advancing the human capital agenda and excellence in the defence sector, and serves on several committees and boards in an advisory capacity.
